ARC TBC Stumped by the Grahams

Postby SRD » Thu Aug 08, 2019 11:12 am

Further to the thread at viewtopic.php?f=72&t=17109&hilit=carchrie

I think I've fixed Ida Carchrie Graham:
Registered as born Eliza M E 1893, Dublin, Ireland to William & Mary Clarke
1901 described as daughter, living in the household of George (age 55) & Annie (age 50) Carchrie and David Graham (age 85) described as Father-in-law.
1908 confirmed in the name of Ida Carchrie Clarke
1911 described as niece in the household of George & Annie Carchrie
1914 married William Hillman
1978 died.

Mary Ann is more problematic:
1881, described as niece age 9, in the household of George & Annie Carchrie.
1891 possible described as servant age 19 in the household of William & Sarah Rogers
1893 married William Clarke, Dublin Ireland
1901 age 29 with husband & 2 children not including Eliza/Ida
1911 emigrating to Australia with 6 children not including Eliza/Ida
1937 death certificate giving age 65, Father George Cecerlia Graham, time in Australia 23 years (giving immigration as 1914), husband William, 5 children extant (not including Eliza/Ida) and 2 deceased
William's death certificate in 1941 gives 6 children extant (including Eliza) and 5 dead.
However I can't fix a birth, census records state Burgh-by-sands which is in the Carlisle registration district but there are no Mary Anns in 1872 however there is one in the rest of Cumberland.
Name: GRAHAM, MARY ANN
Mother's Maiden Surname: -

England, Select Births and Christenings
Name: Mary Ann Graham
Gender: Female

Mother: Ellen Graham

and some in 1871 & 1873

Mother's Maiden Surname: -
GRO Reference: 1871 J Quarter in CARLISLE Volume 10B Page 459
Name: GRAHAM, MARY ANN
Mother's Maiden Surname: -

Mother's Maiden Surname: COYD
GRO Reference: 1872 S Quarter in COCKERMOUTH Volume 10B Page 542
Name: GRAHAM, MARY ANN
Mother's Maiden Surname: ROBINSON
GRO Reference: 1873 S Quarter in CARLISLE Volume 10B Page 471

There is also one in 1872 registered in Wigton that I've been able to discount.

I've also been unable to find anything about the Annie Graham who married George Carchrie apart from the fact that her father was David Graham and she was Mary Ann's aunt.

A further nugget is that George Carchrie's will was administered by a Margaret Graham in 1930.

Please can anyone find the links between Mary Ann and her Aunt Annie and grandfather David.

Thanks.
