On the marriage it looks like Daniel.

I think that the same, and occupation as Carman or Coachman... unable to find records that match at the moment.. but I will maybe assume it's Daniel for now and keep trying to find corresponding records.
Not sure if her father did die when she was young as wouldn't it then say deceased on the marriage cert?

I'm not sure that's the right family as she's Harriett Harding not Harry

I have been searching all morning.. only Harriett I can find born around 1860 in Shoreditch is a Harriet Truseharding born in 1859 and baptized in 1860. Father is named as Dennis which doesn't look anything like the name on the Marriage cert.
I've also found several other Harriet Hardings born around 1860 in London area but not Shoreditch.. I wouldn't even know which one could be her. One was baptism record for a Harriet born in the workhouse with no details of father.
Very confusing. Not sure where to go from here.. really don't think I'm going to be able to make any sense of that marriage record.. unless I order the marriage cert? Would there be more info on that do you think or would it be only what's available to see online?

When I first looked at the marriage (the year does say 1877) of Harriet Harding & Matthew Fitzgerald I thought her father's name looked like Dennies with occupation as either a Carter or Currier, could possibly be a Carver.

Found these baptisms

TRUESHARDING, HARRIETT HANNAH - Mother's Maiden Name: MILLER
GRO Reference: 1860 M Quarter in SHOREDITCH Volume 01C Page 120

Baptism: 15 Jan 1860 St Leonards, Shoreditch, London
Harriet Anna Truesharding (Born 17 Dec 1859) - Denis & Harriet Anna Truesharding

Looks like Harriett's brother

TRUESHARDING, DENNIS - Mother's Maiden Name: MILLER
GRO Reference: 1864 J Quarter in SAINT LUKE MIDDLESEX Volume 01B Page 642

Baptism: 16 October 1864 St Mark Old Street Road, Shoreditch, Hackney (Indexed as Trnesharding)
Dennis - Dennis & Harriett Truesharding - 31 Coroper? St. - Carver

Then I found this marriage on FreeBMD

Marriages Jun Qtr 1859 Shoreditch 1c 332
Miller Harriet Hannah
Iarding Dennis Trusen
Iarding Dennis Truses
Sarding Dennis Truses
Tarding Dennis Fruses
Tarding Dennis _uses

I can't find an actual marriage for this couple, but did find this marriage

Marriage: 17 May 1875 St Jude, Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets, Middlesex
Dennis Truesharding, 32, B, Carver, 2 Amos Place, Dennis Truesharding, Carver
Phoebe Harris, 24, S, 64 Borner? St., Whitechapel, Henry Harris, Clerk
Wit: Francis (?), M J Poly(?)

Dennis says he's a Bachelor, but if this is the same Dennis that married Harriet Hannah Miller in 1859 he should be a Widower.

(approx. years of birth at the side of names)
1891 Census: Prince Edward Road, Hackney, London
Dennis Harding, 50, Chair Maker, St Georges, London 1841
Phoebe Harding 42 1849
Kate Harding 14 1877
Henry Harding 12 1879
Adelaide Harding 9 1882
Agnes Harding 7 1884
Alfred Harding 5 1886
William Harding 1 1890

1901 Census: 16 Prince Edward Road, Hackney
Phoebe Harding, Head.Wid, 50, St George in the East, Middx
Adelaide Harding, Dau, 19
Agnes Harding, Dau, 18
Alfred Harding, Son, 16
William Harding, Son, 11

All the above children on the GRO birth index give Truesharding or Trusharding mother's maiden name as Harris, but William (the last child) is registered as William Harding, mother's maiden name Harris.

The marriages I've found of the children all give their surname as Harding, father Dennis/Denis Harding, occupation Carver/Cabinet Maker/Carpenter.

So the Truesharding surname changes to Harding.

I haven't yet sussed out how Harriet Hannah who married Matthew Fitzgerald fits in yet or if she actually does. Did her mother die and when her father married again, should he have said he was a Widower.

If you order the marriage certificate it won't give you anymore details, but the hand writing may be clearer, but only may be.
