The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, Dorset

Postby SRD » Fri Sep 23, 2016 6:56 am

Should anyone find themselves in Dorset we had an excellent meal at The Anvil Inn at Pimperne yesterday lunchtime, wood pigeon, bacon & pistachio terrine followed by rabbit friccassée with girolles, barley & carrots and a vanilla pannacotta with the last of the season's strawberries (MrsSRD had strawberry cheesecake), we shared a cheeseboard with half a dozen mainly local cheeses in perfect condition. All the food is prepped on the premises, and was excellent. Beer & wine was Ok (It's a Hall & Woodhouse house), service was a tad slow but there were only two people f.o.h covering the bar, two dining rooms and the garden as well as booking in residents, two should have been enough but it's a large inn and the handful of customers were dotted all over the place, also we spent a lot of time chatting with the owner/chef.
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.
