No offence, but shouldn't that be "commemorations" rather than "celebrations".
War is a serious thing, it should be remembered but never celebrated. (The only exception is the end of a war, and then not the winning of it, but just the end).

Celebrating their lives is okay, but celebrating war is not okay.
I'm sure most people would agree that we wouldn't celebrate dropping the bombs on Japan.

Been watching all day on BBC, so touching and what wonderful coverage!
So much respect was shown to the veterans and I was pleased to see so many children involved.
