Hi

I'm having problems making sense of an 1861 census entry that contains my great-grandfather John William Moore

Ancestry's record show the following residents at

Samuel Moore 38
Annie Moore 26
John William Moore 7
Samuel George Moore 6
Alice Annie MooreAge7/12

I find this hard to reconcile with the original record, see:

I can just about see Annie might be 26, John William might be 7 and Samuel George might be 6 - the entries could equally be 2h1, 17 and h - but how they get Samuel Moore as 38 is a mystery to me.

Any thoughts, anyone?

It is a copy -when it was copied from the original may have mistook 2 for 3 but the originals census were destroyed so no way to check
The originals started in 1911 actual signatures etc
