I find that Ancestry has more information on the area you are researching. You could try your local Archives or Library to see if they have a subscription to Ancestry as most of them do.

Can I just say that it would be best for you to check all the info you have by looking at births, marriages and deaths to make sure you have the correct family before going further back. I know it's tempting to go further back, but you really need to confirm everything as far as you can. Also, it's best to look at all the census images rather than just looking at the indexes.

I am going to lock this thread on the Brick Walls Section as it's best to keep it all together on this thread.

The first important census taken was in 1841, with a scattering of the 1831 which doesn't show much information.

Thank you that's so helpful
Debating whether I need to subscribe to Ancestry too as seems to be more information on there.
I did find the 1841 census and the 1851 one but the name Samuel threw me.. I guess it could have been transcribed from Daniel.. makes sense.
Now I know they weren't born in County I can assume that the marriage record I found in Suffolk for, the census record I found did not state that information.
I still have my free trial on findmypast so I may start a trial on Ancestry too and see which is better.
You are absolutely right about not trying to get as far back as quickly as possible, I really want to take my time and be accurate with this.

That makes sense as the Marriage record I found is for a Briggs and a Jennings.. Perfect!
I am starting to use Ancestry now, seems to have more info and I prefer the layout.

Thank you.. I think it really depends where you are searching. My friend was researching her family at the same time who are all from the North of England and she had no trouble.. I think London is just a bit tricky because there are so many possibilities!
Thank you for the help!
