Hi everyone

I hope this message finds you all well and happy?

I have been doing my family tree off and on for the past few years now and I never seem to progress any further with it. So, I thought, I would join this forum and ask for any information on my family name "Hardley" and if anyone has any pictures . Now, I know we have been spread around quite a bit. But, I am concentrating on the London side of things to start with.

I'm also after information on my Great Grandmother who was , so I'm told, quite small, but ruled the home. Her name "Caroline L Etherington", she was married to a Henry Charles Hardley who committed suicide (gambling debts so I'm told). She remarried a chap by the name of "Bacon" who I have a lot of respect for as he took on her 7 children as well. No ,mean feat on a barman's wages. Henry b1856 - d1903 and Caroline b1861 - d1953

I would also like any information of my grandmothers parents George Pulsford and his wife Eliza Clark (1869-1928 & 1873-1910 respectively). I have a portrait picture of George. It would be great to find one of Eliza.

If anyone has any information however small or any pictures, I would be eternally grateful. I too have some pictures which I would be happy to send if any use.

Many thanks in advance

Mike

There are a number of pages on FMP for Henry and I have just picked out "bits and bobs" from these papers

Attestation Papers
Henry Hardley of London, Middlesex 20yrs 8mths
Henry enlisted for the Coldstream Guards at Birmingham on 5 Jan 1877
Birthplace Parish: Poplar, County Middlesex
Bat: 2nd Coldstream Guards Reg. No: 3937

Next of Kin: Brother William, Handsworth (I presume this to be the area he's living)
Wife: Caroline
Campaign: Egypt 1882
Medals & decorations: Egyptian War Medal with Clasp for Tel-el-Kebir & Khedun Bronze Star
Married Caroline Etherington, Parish Church, Clewer, Berks 17 Sept 1884

Do you have Henry's marriage to Caroline Etherington? If not, it would be worth getting as it will give their father's names, hopefully.

Marriages Sep 1884 (FreeBMD Index)
Etherington Caroline Windsor 2c 762
Hardley Henry Charles Windsor 2c 762

You've probably got these censuses, but here they are anyway.

I can't see a marriage for Caroline & Herbert Joseph Bacon, perhaps they didn't get married as in the 1939 Register Caroline is Caroline Hardley

Herbert Joseph Bacon, Head.Mar, 50, Barman, Walpole Suffolk

1939 Register (from FMP)
Hardley Household (2 People)

Do you have info on Caroline Lydia Etherington before her marriage to Henry Hardley? If not, I will start a new topic for her.
