An interesting little muddle, I have a Pleasant Chapman, baptised 2nd September 1832 Queenborough, Kent. Parents George & Patience.
There's an 1841 census record in the family home and an 1851 census record as a servant in the household of Francis John Sales.
In 1854 she may have married George Hopkins.
He was baptised 30th March 1828 Barham, Kent. Parents William & Elizabeth.
They had 6 children:
Charlotte Elizabeth b 1855
Emily Pleasant b 1856
Anne b 1858
John b 1860
George William b 1862
Walter Frederick b 1864
There is an 1861 Census Record with the family at Eastchurch, Kent
From here I've lost George.
In 1871 Pleasant, using her maiden name but declaring being married, is a servant in Hove, Sussex in the household of Miles Stringer.
In the last quarter of that year she marries James Hillman b 1848 reg Brighton, bap 18th Jun 1848
I have James full census record until his death in 1892. His will is administered by his sister Mary Ann.
Pleasant died in 16 Feb 1893 and her will was administered by her son Edward James Hillman.
But what happened to Pleasant's first husband, George Hopkins, and those children that survived after her second marriage?
