Just looking back at this and can't help but wonder what happened between Charles Dilke Alger and Sarah Ann, ok I know that Sarah went off with Thomas Silvester/Sylvester (1901/1911 census)

Marriage: Dec 1931 Sheffield 9c 1375
Thomas Silvester & Sarah A Alger
Must have been a late marriage because of Charles Dilke Alger still being alive?

but why can't I find him in 1901/1911?

According to a family tree on Ancestry it gives Henry Hargrave married a Jane Bailey, who is the sister of Lucy (Bailey) Alger. Worth looking at.

Chas Alger
Gender: Male
Admission Date: 15 Mar 1912
Institution: Winson G
Intitution Place: Warwickshire, England
Death Date: 6 Aug 1914

I thought that might have been him but why would Sarah Ann have waited until 1931 before marrying Thomas Sylvester :?

That would fit - Institution: Winson Green?

Perhaps now that she was living in Sheffield, the news hadn't reached her that Charles had died
