I wish to learn her date of marriage, to whom and if there had been any children of the marriage. Barbara died in 1999 in Cheshunt area of Hertfordshire.

Hi

There is a possible marriage

Marriages Dec 1955
DRUMGOLD Leslie FORDE Edmonton 5e 649
FORDE Barbara R DRUMGOLD Edmonton 5e 649

You can search on here https://www.freebmd.org.uk for births after 1955 and find several children for this couple. I don't want to post their details here because they are probably still alive.

I have found 3 female daughters, but because of the time they born. They may still be alive.
the eldest born in 1957 in Middlesex and 2 born in Hertfordshire 1959 and 1962.

I may have the wrong family. Who was Ita Drumgold and to whom had she been married?

What information do you have? If you know when she died then you must know her surname at that time?

I have a Will for Barbara Rita Drumgold showing Leslie to have been her husband. However, there may have been another Barbara Drumgold residing around the same area.

Ita Drumgold was shown as deceased on a Hertfordshire newspaper obituary column but I am unable to find it again.

Then I think the marriage given above is correct. And the three births too, since the names are unusual.

If you go to https://www.freebmd.org.uk/ and search for births with the surname Drumgold in 1955-1980 (for example) then there are three couples with that surname registering children in England. The ones you want (3) have the mother's maiden name that matches the marriage details.

I only see one marriage of a Drumgold to a Barbara in the right time frame. There is a Barbara Drumgold born in 1936 though, Edmonton district. Perhaps she is the other one. She married in 1957.

I had always thought Ita to have been the wife of Leslie Drumgold. Ita had come from an Italian family.

The Barbara Drumgold born 1936 is the one I remember living in Enfield around 60-years ago but not married.

There are two identical entries on ancestry

Name: Ita Drumgold
Birth Date: 12 Jul 1927
Date of Registration: Mar 1999
Age at Death: 71
Registration district: Enfield
Inferred County: Middlesex
Register Number: B40D
District and Subdistrict: 2271B
Entry Number: 33

Age at Death: 71

If you want to take this further then you will have to buy the marriage certificate and see who her father was.

Many thanks Gardener for your investigative work today. I find it very confusing as to how two people can have the same record/s. I have a Will of Barbara Drumgold that half-fits. I recall only one daughter called Elaine.

It looks as though she was known by the name Ita but her name was Barbara Rita for some records. So the death certificate may have both names on there and say "also known as", and then it gets indexed in two ways. (I am guessing a bit here).

You can order a certificate online at https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/using the information that Jimmy and both gave you above.

The marriage certificate should have Barbara's father's name and occupation on it.
