Hi. This link shows what the film numbers cover https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... %20Library

You would need a baptism for Mary, and if she was baptised in the same church then should be film # 415131

This link http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... #PageTitle

links to a great site that allows you to put in a surname and search a particular film number. It may not be totally up to date though. You would need to look at the actual film to be sure. And of course she may have been baptised elsewhere (or not at all).

I had not realised that this church was actually in Worcester as thought it was still in the Cradley/Stourbridge area of Worcestershire and thanks for pointing it out.

Many thanks for the links, Gardener. There's so much to learn how to navigate my way round, knowing where to look for relevant sources, etc.

I've typed in FHL number, first name and surname plus the year she was married onhttps://familysearch.org/search/catal ... %20Library and the box appeared, informing me, "Film number allows only numbers up to 9-digits in length." Where am I going wrong :?

I don't know :-(

This is what familysearch has for the marriage https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NVTF-BWR

as far as I can see, the baptisms for the same church on familysearch only cover 1788-1872, so even if Mary was baptised there you would not find her record in the index.

I have emailed Worcester and have received the below reply: -

"We have a marriage index of Worcestershire covering 1701 to 1837 ; there are about 30 Sparrow grooms and about 20 Sparrow brides.

We have a burial index of Worcestershire covering mid-1700s to early 1900s; there are 550,000 names of which 93 are Sparrow. There are concentrations of Sparrow burials in Church Lench and Redmarley.

You may also wish to consider name variants Sparry and Sparrey.

We can offer searches of these registers. The base cost is £4.00 per register for up to 3 hits. See http://www.bmsgh.org/sea.html

Malvern Family History society have a good selection of baptism indexes covering Worcestershire http://mfhs.org.uk/worcestershire-parish-records/

The county record office http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/info/2 ... d_research

Bear in mind, however, that just because Mary Sparrow was married in Worcester it does not mean that she was born in Worcestershire.

I hope that this helps.

Regards."

It seems that the FHL numbers aren't much help and I'm reluctant to pay £4 for up to 3 hits, in case the system isn't reliable plus the fact she may not have been born in Worcester, etc and as I've been made redundant, I can't afford to throw away money so will have to give up on this family line. :(
