Mary DeGraw

Postby Scratch And Patch » Sat Sep 07, 2013 7:38 pm

" This is a Brick Wall, For Me!!!!!!!!!!! " Mary DeGraw is now as I am finding out, the wife of William Dodman b. 1821, Snettisham, Norfolk, Eng. - d. 1875 Thamesville, Ontario, Canada.
In an 1852 census record that I have in my possession, Mary is 28 yrs. old, so she was born around 1823 -24. It also states Mary was born Cranbro, Canada West. In 1852 Canada West was, Ontario.

Other than knowing Mary & William married in 1841, All Saints Church, Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Had a very large number of children together. That she died in 1874, Thamesville, Ontario, Canada. And that they R.I.P. Sherman Cemetery, Thamesville, Ontario, Canada.

I still know nothing about her parents or any possible siblings.

Any help with this post would be " A MAJOR BREAK THROUGH IN MY GENEALOGY WORK!!!!!!!!!!! "

Thank You Very Much For Taking A Look At This Post!!!!!!!!!

You have to watch out for French spelling in Ontario so DeDraw could be De Drauw for instance.

In the 1871 census it says she was born Ontario but is of French origin and can neither read or write.

The Western Methodist church records for Canada and not online as far as I know.

That is their religion in both the 1861 and 1871 census.

Eh Mark: It's good to here from you again. " Thank You Very Much For All The Information!!!!!!!!!!!! " I am very " Happy I Can At Least Have Confirmation That Marey's Last/Maiden name Is DeGraw!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " This has been a " Brick Wall " for me & everybody else here in Ontario. All my contacts here that I converse with, have a different maiden name & know nothing else.
Not even where she was born.

" WITH THIS POST & INFORMATION MARK, I JUST MIGHT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WIDE OPEN FOR HER SIDE OF THE FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

" So Cranbro is part of Oxford County, Blenheim District!!!!!!!!!! " This is right in the area where Marey & William got married. Brant County, Brantford, Ontario, in 1841.

" ONCE AGAIN MARK, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I AM HAPPIER THAN A PIG IN.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

Yours Truly

Jeff
