Mary, mother of Elizabeth Buxton - Kings Norton

Postby expat66 » Sun Aug 19, 2012 5:01 pm

Just thought I would throw this 'out there' to see if anyone can find out a bit more on these Buxton ladies, as I seem to have reached a dead end.

William Wharton was my 3x great grandfather ..... this is likely his marriage

Extracted
WILLIAM WHARTON
Marriages:
Spouse: ELIZABETH BUXTON
Marriage: 01 DEC 1834 Kings Norton, Worcester

William's wife Elizabeth died in 1841 and William later married again, but I am just interested in his first wife for now
Elizabeth's death....
Elizabeth Wharton
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1841
Registration district: King's Norton, Worcestershire
Volume: 18 Page: 313

On the census from earlier in the year there is a Mary Buxton or (Brixton?) living with them .... I have assumed that this is William's mother-in-law, Elizabeth's mum

1841. Kings Norton, Worcestershire, England
William Wharton(30) shoe maker,
Elizabeth(30),
Louisa(4),
Emma (2),
John(6 months),
Mary BUXTON(60)..all born in County

Note:- could be Brixton on census??

So my first question is .... is it Buxton or Brixton ?
.... I have gone with Buxton so far :?:

and could this be Mary's death?
Mary Buxton
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1855
Registration district: King's Norton
Inferred County: Worcestershire
Volume: 6c
Page: 231

If it is .... where is she in 1851?

Of course she may have died outside the area and all I know is that she would have died after 1841.... and there are Mary Buxtons all over the place
.... that's before you even start to look at the variations in spelling

So if anyone could give me any help it would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou

Absolutely 100% Brixton on the 1841 census.
