Re: Soviet Army records
Thanks for the reply Mark What about army records for WW2 - like labour camps in Siberia or Germany. My grandmother's brother was sent to Siberia WW2 and she was sent to a Labour Camp in Germany I think. I'm not sure why they were sent there - they were Estonian, I think maybe as prisoners of war???...

Soviet Army records
I am just going to start researching my great grandfather - Alexander Mednis. He was born in Estonia circa late 1800's - he enlisted in the Soviet/Russian Army in 1918. I would like to know more about his time in the Army - could anyone recommend any resources that would be helpful. One of his child...

Hi Linell, Yes, that is exactly them in 1841 and 51 census. Sorry, I should have posted the census details myself I can't find George and Maria 1861. Although Maria is around in 1871 living with her daughter. Maria Bryant (nee Thomas). They are living in Willesden, Middlesex. It states that their ol...

Thomas, George b. 1807
Hi, I am researching a George Thomas born 1807. It says on 1851 census that he was born in "Auly Green", Staffordshire. I don't think that such a place exists but I did some research and I think that there are places called Adderly Green or Abbey Green in Staffordshire so I think that it i...

Re: death cert's/ ChelseaBarracks
Hello again, I have been doing more research on William Shaw B. 1857, Lanarkshire - and found out that he died 1882. I have been trying to trace him back into scotland with no luck - I have searched through all the records on Scotlands people with no matches to his date of birth and the name that he...

Hi Adrian, I've been so busy over the last few days that I haven't even checked the thread.... Sure, I know that during ww1 William Charles was in and out of hospital. He was posted in the Expeditionary Force in France on the 5th of February 1916. He was in hospital on 11 March to the 18th 1916 and ...

Re: death cert's/ ChelseaBarracks
Thanks again, Adrian. Yes, I think you are right, William Charles Shaw b.1881, was not in the 1st Boer War. He was a part of the British Garrison in South Africa - at the moment I would be interested to know where he was based during his time in South Africa if it's at all possible to find that out....

Re: I need some advice ....
As for the witnesses at the wedding - I would need to look at the marriage certificate which is with my grandmother. It might take me a few days to get it. I know that one of the witnesses was William Shaw's mother, and I'm not sure about the other person ... you'll have to give me a while, maybe to...

Wow, thankyou so much!! It's taken so many years of people in my family trying to find out where she came from, and it's only taken you all 24 hours! It's all a bit confusing at the moment because there is so much information. So, Alice Maude Gregory was Mary and Robert Gregory's neice? As she was l...
