Teddesley Estate records of tennants & workers may prove usefull for extra insights. I found mention of at least 1 member of my Penkridge family and will be researching other names that look familiar.

Re: Down our Street- tell us or ask about a St in the BC
I have just made a very very brief comparison of the ocupations of the Eel St workers in 1851 & 1861. It is not complete as some words were illegible & I was not able to research the entire street in the time available, but it seems that in 1851 most paid workers were coal miners, labourers ...

Re: Ablewell Street, Walsall
What a great site you have suggested, Northern Lass. It has wonderfull pictures and has provided real insights in Walsall. I had been searching for Walsall pictures for a while & had begun to think that few existed. Thank you for this lead.

Ablewell Street, Walsall
Is anyone able to post any old photographs of Ablewell St, Walsall, or alternatively any modern pictures of the listed buildings in that street which are 65, 66, 67, 69 and 70? My family, the Garners, lived in Ablewell St in 1841 and it would be wonderful to know what the area looked like. Sadly, I ...

Happy Christmas, Northern Lass. Yes, I use Alan Godfrey maps & find the service second to none, being reliable & prompt. I really cannot speak highly enough of Alan Godrey.

Re: Name of the Brickworks?
Thank you so much, Mallosa & Northern Lass. I am very, very appreciative of your problem solving. I would not have though of searching the National Archives for information on this particular topic. I now know where members of my family are likely to have worked and it helps to build up the pict...

Re: Name of the Brickworks?
Thank you Peterd & Ellie, for your suggestions. My local library is not local to Staffordshire so would not carry anything on West Bromwich brickworks in the 1890s. The site you mentioned, Peterd, has absorbed a lot of my time but to no avail.

Name of the Brickworks?
Does anyone know the name of the West Bromwich brickworks bordered by Gads Lane & Hambletts Rd in the 1890s? Members of my family lived in nearby. George William Saunders was a brick burner in 1896 & lived at 108 Wood Lane, having moved from Bull Lane in 1896. Another family member, also a b...
