*Archived * pre 1837???
How do you find accurate dates pre 1837, I have just tried to order a birth cert for around 1825 and the website said it can't be before 1837.

Question about the national archives
Am I right in thinking that the national archives in london hold all of the records that the individual centres around the country hold for instance all the infomation that can be found in wolverhampton archive centre can also be found the the NA in London?

Parish records on Ancestry
Are the parish records on Ancestry (the ones only available on the premium subscription) complete as you would find in an archive centre or am I misunderstanding what they are?

Re: Henry (Harry) Skitt b 1870 death info needed
Ok, he is on the 1901 census and the last child was born in 1914 I think (I have asked for help confirming the amount of children they had in another post). He married in 1891 in wednesfield. That is all I have on him.

I have just started to put my paper notes onto digital and started with the genes reunited software, I then joined ancestry and loaded the gedcom file onto that but have found that loading the file between the two starts putting information in the wrong places. I used this software as it auto links ...

Re: Finding deaths
The reason I ask is because I have at least 25 deaths to find at present and I am only a short way into the reserch, so to order certificates for all of them with many being just guess's and possibly wrong it would get to be very expensive. Also I think it is to much to ask of other members to look ...

Re: Finding deaths
Is the only way to find it is to go to the records office or can it be done anywhere only as I live quite far away now. Also can you specify if you order from the GRO website or do you need to telephone the order/information through?
Thanks for the reply

*Archived * Finding deaths
Can anyone tell me where I can find about deaths? I know by using the freebmd you can get the name and quarter of death, but how do you get enough information to be sure it's who you are looking for?

Re: The 'Skitts' from portobello
Thanks for the data Farside, can you tell me though where it came from i.e. Ancestry.com or the like, as everwhere I have tried to look for it comes up blank, I just want to know if I'm looking in the wrong places.

Re: The 'Skitts' from portobello
Hi Farside,
Can I ask where you did the search to find the 'Scitts' in the 1861 census that you posted a few threads ago, I cannot find them anywhere?
Thanks
Dan
