Re: Introducing myself.

Well, I'm not really a Northerner. I'm really one of the cracked Pots from the Potteries, currently making Manchester look untidy. In between there and here I have been thrown out of Loughborough, Durham, Leicester, Blackburn, Plymouth, Manchester, Market Bosworth and Manchester again. Absolute duff...

Re: 1918-1920 Allies in Russia

I assume that this was part of the force assembled by the Western Powers to fight for the White Russians against the Bolsheviks. I recall reading of part of this force, perhaps a Polish contingent who, when their line of retreat was cut off by the Bolsheviks, marched all the way across Russia to the...

Re: Elizabeth Taylor- Broadmoor 1871

Many thanks to all the kind folk for their suggestions. I THINK that Elizabeth was still alive at the 1891 census located in Woking Prison, which of course by then had become Brookwood Asylum. It is possible that she was released after this, but I would think it highly unlikely. I think that perhaps...

Re: Elizabeth Taylor- Broadmoor 1871

Well, to be honest, I have looked for possible death registrations, but Elizabeth Taylor seemed to be the favourite name in that period, and I suspect that I might have to buy perhaps a dozen certs before finding the right one

Introducing myself.

Hi Folks, Apologies for not introducing myself before I posted. Very rude of me. I have paternal roots in the Halesowen and Clent area's. My maternal roots are from South Shropshire, who spent a few years in Kingswinford, and the other maternal branch originated from Derbyshire. So Shropshire, Worce...

Re: Verifying parish record connections?

I always thought that Hugh Walliss's batch numbers were a full reflection of the records on the IGI. I always wondered why there was no batch number shown for marriages in Clent, only baptisms. This week I stumbled across M035173 which lists marriages over about a 100 year period in Clent. A great f...
