Re: John Peploe/w

What I really need is to find out if either of these had a father Thomas with the followup of what the mother's name is. I'm not entirely sure that he is from Worc. I can't find an unaccounted for John on the censuses from Worc. until I find him married. The marriage lines are in London and just say...

For the next generations

An acquaintance of mine has managed to interest his grandchildren in the genealogy he has been researching. He made family tree charts for himself and his ancestors and also his wife, printed them on 11x17(tabloid) paper, back to back and laminated them. They are used as placemats when the grandchil...

Re: 1911 census and free access in certain archives

Been staying with my mom (she's 90 and likes to play with chainsaws, boats and such). I have to access the internet through my cellphone and the connection has been dicey at best. I can usually read things OK but have trouble answering email and posting messages. Going back up end of next week as we...

Re: 1911 census and free access in certain archives

You can also access the 1911 at Family History Centers and Findmypast. the LDS church seems to have struck a deal with somebody. All FHC with computers should have several databases available for free - 1911, FindmyPast, World Vital Records, Heritage Quest, Footnotes to name a few.

Nicknames

i have found both Polly and Fanny being used as 'nicknames' for girls born Mary Ann. Does anyone know why? Also would a woman be listed by such a nickname on her children's baptisms and her death certificate? Or would those have the given name. I'm trying to find my g?grandmother(maiden name) who is...

Re: Downloadable Parish transcripts

Remember these are books of transcripts made around 1900 - not ALL parishes were done - but it's worth trying because if you are lucky you will get a tremendous amount of information and the only cost is your time First , make sure you are in Google book search - not just google then try searching w...

Downloadable Parish transcripts

Before registration began in 1837 - parish registers provided most of the recording of genealogic events - baptisms, marriages and burials. Many of the transcriptions on the LDS site are from these registers. However, there were also many transcriptions done and published in the late 1800s and early...

*Arc tbc* --PR -Madeley, Shropshire

John and Eliza Peplow baptized a daughter Emma Jane in 1835 and a son John in 1833 in the Wesleyan church in Madeley Woods( IGI records) - In 1839, this Emma Jane appears to die in Madeley district - I can find none of the family on the 1841 census. I found a Teddy Byatt age 11 on the 1911 census living with his grandmother Ruth (widowed) in St Ives but no clue as to parents. I have Ruth and her husband Reuben on the 1901 - they had three sons and two daughters that I know of - two sons are living with them - the two daughters are in service an...
