I have tried the surnames linked to him but nothing. Could he be in an orphanage or workhouse, would these be on the censuses? Others have him as connected with Ballards but this would mean his mother was Hannah and father Benjamin but I don't think this is correct as I had been told by a direct anc...

Thanks Jimmy for your help and info on David Plant. I cannot see the connection between him and John Nock other than him being a lodger in 1881. Am I missing something?

This is the right John Nock however from his birth in 1853 until his marriage in 1873 I cannot find him. He doesn't appear. on the 1861 and 1871 census

Info I have so far for John Nock: History given by John's granddaughter: John born West Bromwich, mother Mary, father unknown, wife Sarah. Certificates (posted) support this. I have found John and his family on the following census's 1881 Mexborough-lodger with David Plant 1891 Denaby 1901 Rotherham...
