I am pretty sure they met after the war -
The father was only 18 in 1939. he was and apparently at Dunkirk ? unit. Sounds like he was 'a bit of a lad'
Allegedly went AWOL/Deserted; Had at least one wife.. plus fathered the index daughter in 1958.

Thanks for the comment I appreciate that it should - but it doesn't! The Mother used the 'husbands' surname as her own.
