I have James Kelly's marriage certificate but it does not say where he was born, the certificate was registered in Manchester, it just mentions his fathers name but as deceased.

The information I have is that my great grandfather James Kelly was born in Ireland in 1852, his father being Lawrence Kelly. At some point James Kelly left Ireland and moved to Manchester,where he married a Catherine McNally in 1880.
I was hoping to find out where in Ireland the family originated.

Can anyone advise as to how I can trace my paternal great grandfathers place of birth. I know his year of birth, his fathers name and the fact that he was Irish? He settled in Manchester on arriving in the U.K.
