That would make sense Martha being John's mother. It gets very confusing as the census returns are not consistent - on 1871 shown as son of Mary Ann and John, but then on 1891 census shown as grandson. I had made the same conclusion.

I can only assume that George and John are the same person. The 1911 census shows John as head and Tamar as wife. It shows my grandfather William (Willie) with his siblings John, George, Florence, Beatrice, Charles, Nellie and Sidney. I know this is correct as my grandfather had a newspaper cutting ...

Yes this is as far as I have got because my grandfather's birth certificate shows John as father and Tamar nee Haines as mother. His Army papers show father as John Pulley and mother, Tamar and lists brothers George, Sidney and Charles. Address given was 144 Bloomfield Road, Tipton. But when trying ...
