Re: SALT/BASHFORD/FARMER in Lye, Wollescote
You are spot on BC Wench. Susannah Salt, father Joseph, a carpenter, seems to have been living with the Bashford family from birth and married "step-sibling" William Bashford. Susannah is my 3rd great-grandmother. I sense a scandal involving Joseph Salt and the Bashfords but I may be wrong...

ARC.........SALT/BASHFORD/FARMER in Lye, Wollescote
My 3rd great-grandmother was Susannah Salt born abt 1831 in Lye, Wollescote, father Thomas Bashford born 1797. mother Esther Farmer born 1798. I'm confused as she seems to have married a William Bashford (born 1826) in 1851 but is also listed as married to a William Priest born 1825. A census record...

Re: Sargeant and son Johnny Bashford
Hi Northern Lass, good sleuthing! William Joseph Bashford married Emma Charlotte Caldicott 2nd Sept 1888 in Birmingham. Thanks for that and I hope there to find relatives in Lye, there are plenty of metalworkers and engineers in my Birmingham tree. I've definitely seen Lye as a birthplace but it's h...

Re: Sargeant and son Johnny Bashford
Wow! More replies than I expected. It seems that my grandma Lily May Bashford had no family connection to Sargeant's family but there are some family connections to Lye which may have thrown me off the scent. Thank you all very much for your replies and information. I'll be back!

NL adding to Bcc...Sargeant and son Johnny Bashford
Researching my Grandma Lily (Lilian) Robinson nee Bashford I came across Sargeant Bashford from Lye. His son John Henry Bashford was killed at the age of six as he looked for his dad. He fell into banksman Sargeant's workplace (mine pit?) and died several feet from where he actually fell. Here is an...
