Lets all Join Hands
Is there anybody there I've just looked at some oldish general posts in an attempt to get a handle on why there is so little activity here and saw that Alec had used the "Lets Join Hands" quote. I used this myself in an early quote of mine, sorry Alec I didn't nick it. Great Minds. Needles...

Re: Beattie Brick Wall
Hi From one baldy to another I've had a look at the on-line records and all I can find is a Birth. This makes me wonder about the Census Records "or is it me"? I tried various spellings, but didn't come up with a likely candidate. Obviously you won't find any further Census Records so Marr...

Re: Medal Index Cards Available from Ancestry
Hi Alec I had looked and found my grandfather listed before my post. Our Library Service has a subscription to ancestry so I went along today and printed a copy. I don't think they allow discs etc to make a down-load but at least I have it and in colour. There's probably a way of downloading and ema...

Medal Index Cards Available from Ancestry
Medal Index Cards are now available on-line, in colour, at Ancestry.com. They are incomplete at the moment. I believe there is no further charge to download if you are a paid up member of Ancestry. Unfortunately I'm not and I believe my relative is on. so if any kind person............ Regards Howard

Re: exploring back down limbs below 1891
Hi Geoff You have been lucky! In my case, most B's M's or D's after about 1915 have been fruitless, though strangely, my own marriage is there and I'm not that old!!!. They must transcribe them on a quality basis, Ha Ha. "findmypast" is another source, they are supposed to be up to date. T...

Re: Need Help with seeking Anthea Chaffey Overseas
Hi Gavin I've had a similar problem ie: reaching a dead end, record wise. On the ancestry/National Archive site there is a search option for sailings "its a free basic search" I did find a sailing with the relevant name on, to Brisbane but couldn't prove it was my relation, although it's a...

Re: Forum Interest? (The lack of)
Hi Alec Thanks for the reply. Its sad that the forum is not thriving, given all the effort involved in setting it up and keeping it going. I'm no expert, I don't have solutions that would guarantee success. The thing that may help is: Moderators starting new and interesting Topics, that may guide pe...

Re: Forum Interest? (The lack of)
Hi Folks! "lets all join hands and try to contact people interested in this forum" I have very recently joined and cannot believe the lack of interest. We are constantly told about the enormous growth in the subject, I'm beginning to think its a myth. I found this forum by simply typing &q...

Hi
Re Alec's Post.
Does entering names of living relations represent a real security risk? If so I'd better modify my tree.
Cheers

Re: Not Being Able to Find Records
Hi Scott
You're lucky to find what you have. I have failed to find many entries after about 1915. There are lots of gaps.
Did you know that you can access B's M's and D's at: "freebmd.org.uk" without Ancestry Membership.

Re: Viewing BMD Certificates Online
Hi John
In the past I have printed some documents off BMD, they are handy and in a certificate sort of format. I don'y know if they are still availabel. They are not actually B M or D Certificates, which are not available on line. £7 from NA.
