Re: paper copy organisation
I use Gramps to record all my family details but I like to keep a paper proof and the problem I have is classifying all these documents, the non-direct members of the different generations pose the main problem as I end up with several parallel levels of classification, and it becomes very quickly a...

paper copy organisation
Hi all, I'm looking for advise on how to organize a file full of acts of birth, acts of marriage, printed copies of FreeBMD extracts, i.e. the proof and justification of my family tree. I've been trying to organize it from myself backwards having a section for each generation, but it gets complicate...

Re: exploring back down limbs below 1891
Thats true Alec, I was lucky exploring from 1910 onwards.
Clicking on the page number in freebmd gives all the people registered at that date and has been useful giving me the probable spouse.

Re: exploring back down limbs below 1891
Alec, You gave me the answer in another of my postings the secret is in the search request ie look for children with the surname = family name, given name left blank, and the spouses maiden name specified. This gives a theoretic list of the children to be sifted through according to probable dates a...

Re: CHAPMANs in Barnsley
Thanks for your help Alec, FreeBMD is magic, there are so many ways of crosschecking information, and you've just shown me another, ie "find the children with the family name and using the mothers maiden name as a link". It looks like I have a branch in Lincolnshire, I'll have to check tha...

CHAPMANs in Barnsley
I am looking for the children of Frederick Tayler CHAPMAN born in Barnsley in 1889, married in 1915 to Bertha BELLAMY. I am not sure when Bertha was born, probably around 1883-87 and again probably in Barnsley. Frederick was the son of Joseph R Chapman and Elizabeth JACKSON.

exploring back down limbs below 1891
I'm having difficulties finding descendants later than 1891, (ie between 1891 and today) any suggestions from the experienced explorers?

*Archived* Barnsley Chapmans before 1831
I've traced my family back to Joseph Chapman (born 1831), married in 1855 to Jane Chapman (born 1836) and who had Mary Jane, Albert, Lily and Joseph as children. All lived in Barnsley.
Can anybody give me any info on Josephs ancestors?
