Re: John Dunn and Sarah Dunn death certs

Yes, ordered from Dudley.

Thomas Allen was the registrar for both.

John Dunn's was registered on 26 Oct 1843.

Sarah Dunn's was registered on 29 Jul 1843.

I don't see any numbers on the copy except in the far left...no. 4 for John and no. 325 for Sarah.

Re: John Dunn and Sarah Dunn death certs

I know, the dates suprised me too!

I just triple checked and they both are from 1843

Sarah, 27 Jul 1843, Netherton, age 66
John, 24 Oct 1843, Netherton, age 74

The handwriting is very clear on both of them.

Re: John Dunn and Sarah Dunn death certs

Hannah could have either been a "spinster" daughter, but more likely the wife of John's son James per BCC.

I took a look at this site, but it wasn't clear how I could use the site. I know that Jesse died in Wednesbury, West Bromwich, but I don't know where he was buried. Could the folks in Sandwell look that up for me?

Re: John Dunn, father of Jesse Dunn

I've ordered the John and Sarah Dunn death certs from Dudley and I also ordered Sophia Barnsley's death from the GRO (her death was listed as Stafford, Staffordshire). We found two possible christenings for Sophia: Sobey Dunn, 25 Dec 1803, John & Sarah, Saint Thomas Dudley Sophia Dunn, 29 Aug 18...

Re: John Dunn, father of Jesse Dunn

Looking at this with a fresh mind on it, I would think that Sophia must be a sister, you have all the proof you need with Jesse's daughter being in her household as Niece, could this baptism be Sophia:- Sobey Dunn- christening: 25 Dec 1803 SAINT THOMAS,"‹DUDLEY,"‹WORCESTER,- parents: John Dunn,"‹ S...

Re: John Dunn, father of Jesse Dunn

Yes, it is a nightmare

When i have a brick wall, it's a really thick wall :P

I saw the new thread you started, maybe some fresh eyes will help. I'm thinking the shoemaker thing might help. Thank you for all your work on this!

Re: John Dunn, father of Jesse Dunn

Wow, I'm going to have to take some time tomorrow to absorb all of this. I did note in your last post that James was listed on a census as a shoemaker. If i remember correctly, Sophia was listed as working on shoes in one of the earlier census.

Re: John Dunn, father of Jesse Dunn

No, i didn't order the death certs, they never felt right to me. And yes, i think we should disscinnect Jesse from where he is and put him tentatively with Sophia. I'm also starting to wonder if she was married to John Dunn first. It is interesting though that when Jesse's daughter visits in 1861(?...

Re: John Dunn, father of Jesse Dunn

Yeah, Jesse always listed himself as being born in Dudley too, not Brierly.
