Re: Tracking Gadsby Family
That's a novel way of keeping young!. I have been in contact with a few Parish churches around the areas for the family and all bar one said to approach the CRO in Matlock who were very accommodating when I spoke to them. So I'm going to put together as much as I can based on what information I have...

Re: Tracking Gadsby Family
That's Great I really appreciate this information. Looks like the Gadsby's were all named George and were Joiners!. So that i can continue with my research and hopefully go even further back is it best for me to register with one of the sites like Ancestry, Find my Family and pay to view census's an...

Re: Tracking Gadsby Family
Hi and thanks again. As I want to track back further I need to obtain my Great Grandfathers birth certificate which would give me his parents details and then I can look at older census's to hopefully get more information rather than guesswork. I really want to put together as much as I can before I...

Re: Tracking Gadsby Family
Thanks for the reply. I got a bit confused and posted twice so I've had two responses both with same information. I'm positive this is my family. On another note. This data is from the 1911 census does this forum have access to previous census's or do I need to sign up and pay one of the main organi...

Re: Tracking Gadsby Family
Thank you for the very prompt response. My gut feel is that its George Gadsby joiner as my Grandfather was also a joiner and i have there hand made tools made in Oak with there names etched. The thing that's making me question if it is or not is that, the Construction company that my Great Grandfath...

My Grandfather was born in Nottingham in February 1903 I only have a registration document not a birth certificate. My Great Grandfathers name was George and I assume he was from around the Nottingham, Mansfield area. The name Gadsby appears to be linked to mining originally down in Glocs. I origina...

Re: Building a Family Tree
Thank you all for your responses, turns out I had a fairly basic piece of software. Looked at others and sorted myself out with a package that offers more and is a lot easier to work through. On another subject I'm trying to research family and so far have got back to Great Grandparents. Is there an...

Building a Family Tree
Hi to all, I'm very new to this. I have downloaded a tree building package but it will not let me add Brothers and Sisters as I go up the ladder i.e. My Fathers, My Grandfathers etc. Are most systems like this or have I chosen a basic one. I would like to detail these as I go along. I am researching...
