Thank you all for your posts. It has taken my search further and explained why I could not find my grandfather on the censuses. It looks as if I need to access Irish records to follow up Benjamin Agar born about 1819. Any advice as to how I do this? Thank you again.

Hi, My father was brought up in a workhouse and knew nothing of his past. My brothers and I have been trying to fill in the gaps.
