Re: Noel Theodore Stanislaus King

Thanks to everyone for the information. There are a few more people come to light to add onto the family tree! My mother confirmed that Noel was reputed to have joined up at the age of 16 which would have been early on in the war - it would be interesting to see the relevant paperwork where he lied ...

Re: Noel Theodore Stanislaus King

I've just dug out the family tree which shows Noel's father as Richard who had a second wife Frances and another son Terence. So it must be him! Well spotted! Having seen his age in 1911 I'm beginning to wonder whether there was some rumour about him getting into WW1 underage. I'll have to check wit...

Noel Theodore Stanislaus King

I was wondering how I could find out anything about my relative Noel Theodore Stanislaus King. According to family folklore he was on the receiving end of a poison gas attack during WW1 which still badly affected his voice and breathing when I met him in the early 1970s. He also did bomb disposal in...

Re: What's my address ?

I've just realised what I need to do! If I get the Valuation Office Field Book pages for the neighbouring houses then that will tell me who was living there and then I can get their addresses from the census. That will then tell me how the old numbering system worked! I believe the contemporary expr...

Re: What's my address ?

if you got the original deed will it not have some detail as to the original address and builder ? Probably, but I don't know where the deeds are! if you have a morgage on the property the lender might have them or your solicitor who dealt with the sale ? When land is registered with the Land Regis...

I've got the two maps that they sell relating to this area. Station Road is on the 1890 map but no one has built any houses along it. The 1905 map shows several houses including mine.

Re: What's my address ?

Linell,

All the Land Registry tells me is who my immediate predecessors were! Unless the Land Registry holds historic data which can be retrieved?

Maths girl,

No pubs. There are a few shops at one end and the rest are houses.

What's my address ?

I am trying to find what my address was. Currently the address of my house is 175 Station Road. Station Road itself was built in 1889 and the OS map for 1905 shows that my house and a number of others have sprung up along the road. However the number 175 takes into account all the houses dating from...
