Thanks, I wondered about a memory stick but didn't know if it would fit on one. I haven't bought the software yet though I'm still deciding.

Thanks for the reply. I've just found the recommended specs for FTM and it says at least 1GB ram and I've got 512MB so I definately won't be using that, not at the moment anyway. I'm just starting to research my family and didn't know whether to buy FTM 2012 Platinum or not. I fancy the Ancestry membership, and it says it's compatible with windows XP but I've also read (in Amazon reviews) that it's a bit resource hungry so I'm not sure if my PC will cope.
