Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
Would definitely make an extensive list if I went to Manchester. It's too long a drive from here (Norway) to end up forgetting something.

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
So, go to Manchester?
Ok, I think I'll see if I can get that death certificate for Sarah Burns. Seems to be the cheapest option to try catch Sarah Gamble
I'm out of other ideas.

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
I'm nowhere close to Manchester unfortunately. Would love to have gone through the All Saints records. http://i.imgur.com/gMati.jpg This is a map of some of the places mentioned from the censuses we've been looking at. I have looked at an old map of Chorlton, and tried to plot in the missing streets...

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
Yeah, and there's the odd thing about birth years and places changing. It's very hard to follow if it's really the same one.
I've been looking at this site
http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Manchester/Ch ... index.html
And can't see All saints church records being transcribed yet. It's the parish they belonged to.
http://www.manchester.gov.uk/site/scrip ... eNumber=14
Do you think these could have something?

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
It's just a copy, and no signature from informant.
I'm pretty sure she didn't know who her parents were. But no, I'm not 100% certain.
I don't know what the Deakin name is about either, but Greenwood was the name they passed on to next generation.

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
I may consider it. Seems to be the be the only candidate I have at this point to help fill in the mystery that is Sarah Gamble. I've been thinking, I have a hard time finding Sarah Gambles in the UK censuses, and S.A. seems to be a more popular name in Ireland. Could she be Irish, and have been marr...

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
Expensive way to do research though. :S
Spending money to maybe just rule someone out. Would love to know what that death certificate said though.

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
Oh wow. That does sound like a very likely candidate. http://i.imgur.com/Qgw6R.jpg That's close.... The Sarah Burns who died in Manchester in 1910, was very close in age as him, b: abt 1883, but wouldn't it be more likely if it was the right Sarah, that she was listed as deceased in Chorlton? Also, ...

Re: Nurse Child in Manchester
Nurse Child, A child being looked after by another family for payment. From, m From the little I know about Mary Patricia Burns, it was said she never knew who her parents were, and it's said she was adopted. And there's this. "Prior to 1927 - there were no formal adoption procedures - just pr...

I've looked at her before. But I have a hard time tracing her back in time to see if it's the right Sarah.
