Hmmmm... I have just used m to find the death certificates for Thomas DAVIES (6 May 1912) and Selina BEVAN (23 Nov 1909). I see that these certs list their parents names (David DAVIES and looks likes Mary HARRY, and Thomas BEVAN and Mary GRIFFITHS). Is it standard practice to include this type of in...

I assume that the "11a 840" is a ref. to in the marriage register to the actual certificate? What do I do now to actually follow "11a 840"?

No, and I can't find it. A gent by the name of Robert Fenwick in Scotland mentioned that he saw this fact on David's birth registration, but I myself have not found this document, or even seen it.
