You appear to be working from the wrong start point

You should be starting with a 'proved' person -yourself even -and 'prove' back from then.

To start with what you believe/assume/hope and try to come forward to a proven point creates a tangled list of confusion and possibilities!

Perhaps that was not Alderminster but Aldershot Hampshire wrongly transcribed
-also army & navy families traveled around and children were often born in different areas

the birth certificate gives his mother as an Harriett Povey from West Bromwich (I have found who I believe to be her) but no father is on the birth certificate so im more inclined to believe he was illegitimate even though on his wedding certificate he gives his fathers name as Arthur Povey It appe...
