ARC TBC - Adam Dalgliesh lived in Marston Stafford

Born Scotland according to the various UK censuses - nothing more specific. Birth years stated vary considerably and his marriage is 1834 in Stafford - so too early for English marriage records to reveal his father's name. I'd like to identify him but there are several called Adam Dalgliesh listed b...

ARC TBC.......................one to double check please

On the BCC site there is a Sarah A Baker born 1844, daughter of Edward Baker and Ann Portman. Attached to her name are two children, Daniel and Mary A Holt. I have checked on the West Midlands BMD site and there is a marriage for a Sarah Baker to a Henry A Holt in 1864. The family is clearly visible...

Re: Ellen from Galway - is this now completed?

Very pleased that the story has moved on ten years. Still not able to resolve what happens next ie further marriage or death record or even another emigration. She remains a puzzle.

Re: Ellen from Galway

Very pleased - after a long time of trying different searches and trying again months later. I knew about the William McKegheny marriage (another variety of spellings there) but did not think to search on his name in my quest for aunt Ellen.

Excellent!

ARC TBC - Ellen from Galway

I am looking to find out what happened to Ellen Travis or Travers, married name given as both Horwell and Howell (1874 marriage Staffs BMD). She is on the 1871 census living at the vicarage in Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent and also nearby in 1881, when her niece is living with her. Ellen's birth date v...

Re: ARC TBC........................Hamptons-----Jo adding to

Great efforts all round and sorry it's such a mystery. You've disccovered that a Hannah Rollason seems to link to the Hamptons both as neighbour and a witness - interesting but sadly it's not conclusive. I am puzzled about the absence of any Rollason births to Joseph and Hannah between the 1814 marr...

Re: Hamptons

Yes - the Golding/Hampton neighbours is what caught my eye and it does look likely. Phebe's marriage (1849) might confirm. This is a different Moses Hampton (born 1821) with the Danks family - father Benjamin from memory. Joseph and Hannah Turner in 1861 are at 60 Netherton Hill with: Moses 20, Eliz...

Re: Hamptons

Have only recently returned to this one but sadly I have far too many gaps and guesses at the moment. I was working around this marriage from 25 Dec 1839 St Th: Joseph Turner widower full age miner Hannah Rollason minor both from Netherton fathers: John Turner deceased nailor; Joseph Rollason deceas...

Re: Hamptons

Thanks. The Hamptons seem to be on Netherton Hill which is why I was curious about Enoch. Phebe is still there in 1841 with son Moses. Moses and subsequent family also listed as Netherton Hill in 1861 with who I believe to be widowed sister Hannah Rollason (previously Hampton) living next door (dep ...

ARC TBC..........Christenings and Burial looked up! Hamptons

I am looking at the family of Moses and Phoebe Hampton (married 1794) at the moment and trying to put together what happened to their children. I saw some discussions (2008) regarding a Holloway will and an Enoch Hampton (blacksmith) which mentioned them. There seemed to be 3 sets of parents with En...

Re: Evans-----------Mally adding to Bcc

Looks good on BCC. There is the other sibling Martha to add - chr 20 Nov 1825 Brierley Hill (Robert and Elizabeth) The Robert Evans - Elizabeth Reese marriage looks correct despite Elizabeth giving father's name as Thomas Taff on her remarriage in 1839. The sequence would seem to be: Elizabeth Reece...

Re: Evans

Elizabeth jnr later gives birthplace as Corngreaves so that fits. Two siblings were christened in Brierley Hill, and the others in Cradley. Will be sending for certificate to find out what happened to Robert. The Harris family Lockside Tipton address is next door to the married daughter Elizabeth Gr...
