When I informed my aged uncle that his parents had never married, he just grinned and said ....'so what they've been calling me all these years was true!!'.
We had a good laugh about it. 150 years is a long, long time and those involved are long dead. If it was me, I'd love to hear from you.

How about Marchamley in North Shropshire?
Remember that many people couldn't spell including enumerators who were conducting the census.
If it turns out not to be Marchamley, Google 'places in Shropshire'.

Ancestor in Scotland B ST
Hi! I'm new to this forum. My problem is with an ancestor called John Willis BORROWDALE . He was born about 1806 and lived most of his life in Essex but census returns say that he was born in Scotland. I haven't been able to find out exactly where in Scotland so I haven't been able to find his paren...
