Re: Street plans of Old Hill
There's really interesting stuff here.- I couldn't get a very clear view of the 1880 map - is there any way of getting the map darker ?

Street plans of Old Hill
Has anyone seen/ know where to find large scale maps of Old Hill which show street names pre-1880 to match up with census data ?
(I don't yet have any local history books for Old Hill, although I have managed to 'borrow' a number of the recommended Halesowen books which do have really useful maps in)

Re: settlement of Brettle in Halesowen
Great Maps on the Cradley Links esp. the Medieval map of the area - v. interesting to see what was already there. Must recommend it to anyone who hasn't already seen it.

Re: settlement of Brettle in Halesowen
Can you figure where this was from the census data - I didn't think Cradley was large enough to be considered a Town, let alone having another town within it. Or did 'town' have a slightly different meaning such as in Loamy Town ?

Have located Hawbush, would it ever have been considered part of Halesowen rather than Stourbridge ?

Re: settlement of Brettle in Halesowen
Thanks for the links - I'm not looking for anyone in particular Linell.
My brother mentioned Brettle today ( whilst we were looking for stone houses in Hasbury ! ) I read the Wiki post and wondered if it was made up, as I'd never heard of it before.

Re: Bellengers ( + alternative spellings !)in Birmingham 180
Thanks for all these replies - I have Thomas and Rebecca's marriage cert.for Romsley - both Thomas and his father are labourers which is common but not a lot of help. My next question will be why Romsley as they are back in B'ham in 1851. May be Rebecca was in service there by then for it to be her ...

Wall Well Habury
I had relatives who lived in the 'Sandhouses', so I'm told. Does anyone know when these were demolished ? My dad thinks they were near the chapel. Or anything about the community in Wall Well in the 1800's
