Re: David BOLTON, Tipton
Many thanks. I have the Tipton birth certificate, but do not believe it to be the correct David. I have found the West Bromwich David on 1971 census, but his mother (Elizabeth BOULTON b.1830) was widowed at that time and I cannot find her on earlier censuses or records for her marriage. I think I ma...

Re: David BOLTON, Tipton
Thank you!
I'm going to double check both of those references.
Father's occupation was 'labourer' (not much help!).

Re: Keefes of Oldbury
If the KEEFE family came over from Cork, it would have been when Thomas (b. 1870) was a teenager (hinted at by Martin in his memoirs). Therefore the family may not have been in England for the 1881 census (although John and Phoebe KEEFE whom I thought were Thomas' (b. 1870) parents are on both the 1...

Re: David BOLTON, Tipton
Sorry- should have said - the birth you referred to appears to be that of a David Bolton that died in infancy. I could be wrong though!

Re: David BOLTON, Tipton
Thank you so much! Yes- that's him as he married and had his family in Malvern. I'm not able to locate him or his family in Tipton prior to this. I guess he might have been born there, but not lived there for long? I just can't get further back than this and apart from his marriage cert. naming his ...

ARC TBC - David BOLTON, Tipton
David BOLTON was apparently born in Tipton in 1866 (according to census returns), but the only David BOLTON (1866) I can find, died in infancy. His father was also called David (according to David 1866's marriage certificate). I cannot find any record of them before 1891. Can anyone help?

Re: Keefes of Oldbury
Thank you for all the information. I have dug out the information written by Martin Keefe (b. 1913). He says that the Keefe family brought their 5 children over from County Cork (where they had been born), to provide a better life in England (in the Black Country). No parents listed, but the childre...

Re: Keefes of Oldbury
Hi, My Grandmother was Mary Helen Keefe (b. 1907). I am having the same issues as you, as family members are positive Thomas Keefe (b. 1870) was 'born and bred' in Ireland. However, all records point to him being born in Oldbury (and also his father before him!). I do remember my mum saying that he ...
