Thank you all so much for your help!!! We have now got as far as William Nicholas born 1806 in Downham Cambridgeshire, married to Elizabeth Brown. We believe this to be a true ancestor...so hard as William and Elizabeth seem to be very popular names back then! Now I just need to find out his parents...
