I have the certificate but its quite worn Peter. There are 2 witnesses which I belive are the Fathers. One is a hughes, the other a West but I can't really make out the initials before the surnames.

Sorry Jo - I don't believe so - the locations dont stack up here nor the age of the Father (John William) who would have been around 24 in 1901 or 34 in 1911.

Not sure in 1901 but his Fathers occupation appears as House decorator on a 1925 marriage certificate, so would assume same? I can tell you his Father was born in 1877 so would be around 24 in 1901.

His name was William John West
Born 10th January 1901
Location - not 100% but 90% sure it is Shoreditch (London)

His father was John William West but I have no Mothers details at all.

If anyone could locate him, I'd love to know any details - Mother, siblings, address details etc.

So far, I've been surviving on the Free census - 1881 from home and 1901 from the local library and I don't believe 1911 is available free just yet is it. Although he was born very early in 1901 I drew a blank when I did research him on the 1901 census.
