Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Confirmation from the birth certificates that Sarah 1842 and Ephraim 1845 were not given the name Hadley, but Beese. No father is mentioned on their birth certificates. By 1856 William and Harriet's daughter Esther is given the name Hadley, although they are still not married. Some time between 1845...

Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Thank you FarSide! I checked the marriage 1876 for William Hadley and Harriet Beese with Sandwell, and it matches. The couple are the right age and fathers Harris and Martin, with correct occupations. So they got married three years before William died, yet said they were married in the census and o...

Re: *Arc tbc* ---William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Thanks. I have more updates. Harriet was also living in the same place (Badgers Square) in 1841 census. By 1851 they have children Sarah Hadley and Ephraim Hadley. Only the marriage between William and Harriet, and the birth certificates for Sarah and Ephraim are nowhere to be found. However, it has...

Re: *Arc tbc* ---William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

To be honest I don't understand your archive process. The information that "grangers14" provided is fantastic. I am obviously going to keep digging because it is my family. If I find out more should I ask for it to be unarchived or is this only of interest to me? Thanks again for all the a...

Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Bingo, so William and Harriet's parents were both living in the same street in 1841 and then again in 1851.
This all but confirms I have the correct people.
Thank you so much.

Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Thank you for re-opening this one for me Jan. I have just received the birth certificate for Esther Hadley 1856. I thought it would solve the link to Belper, but it has not. However, Harriet was Harriet Beese. The best match I can find is Harriet Beese christened Dudley 30 May 1819 to parents Harris...

Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Hello I received a response yesterday telling me I had emailed the wrong department. The correct department replied within 20 minutes. Non of the Sarah's mentioned above, nor the ones I had, were the Sarah with parents William and Harriet. However the one I found for Esther Hadley was correct, so I ...

Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Sorry, I clicked submit too soon. I can say for sure that: West Midlands Birth indexes for the years: 1843 HADLEY Sarah Dudley Dudley Register Office DUD/018/351 is not the correct Sarah. I have seen that birth certificate and her parents were glass workers and had different names. But on the subjec...

Re: William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Gosh, you lot are good! Thank you. I hadn't spotted there were three generations of Worthys visiting in 1851. Nor had I spotted the Spencer link, which looks very possible. So if Samuel Worthy was married to Elizabeth Spencer, then she cannot be William Hadley's sister. Which leaves Harriet as the l...

William Hadley and Harriet, Dudley

Hello I sent an email to the BCC site and got a nice reply from Jan, who referred me back here. My family tree on my father's mother's side is firmly rooted in Derbyshire, in the village of Belper, with the occupations being nail making. But I recently found an ancestor saying she was born in Dudley...
