Re: Remembering Accles & Pollock
Fascinating to hear the stories about A&P and memories of people who worked there! My great grandfather (Thomas Steventon) was "Works Policeman" or "Gate Keeper" for A&P. Not sure of the dates when he did this, that's still part of my list of things to find out about him!...

Re: Whiteheath Villa
Hi Rob, Yes, your description of the Villa and its location are more inkeeping with the descriptions my father gives and from those my grandfather had when he was still with us. I'm really curious to see if any photos exist. Although, Whiteheath Villa, being I guess a residential building, may not h...

Re: Whiteheath Villa
Thanks so much for your time Jan!
I've been to Smethwick Archives a few times to try and find something but to no avail. Maybe we'll be lucky this time!
Fingers crossed.

Re: Whiteheath Villa
Whiteheath Villa was a standalone, modern style brick house. It had several outbuidlings and land surrounding it. It appears on the OS map of the time (I have copies of this). It was indeed demolished after it had been compulsory purchased by Oldbury Council to make way for the Lion Farm estate. It ...

Re: Whiteheath Villa
I e-mailed Terry Daniels. He knows of no good photograph of Whiteheath Villa. The people who spoke about it in his Whiteheath book, now online, remembered it, but nobody had a picture. Terry has a map and is hoping to get hold of the sale particulars. One of his ancestors, George Cockbill, is liste...

Re: Another Hadley - Siviter marriage.
By the way, just to add another factor to the already complicated equation
, There is ANOTHER Ephraim Hadley (brother of Ephraim Hadley b. 1860, m. Mary Siviter). This other Ephraim Hadley was born, and died, on 4th November 1858 aged 10 seconds! (death certificate available for BCC)

Re: Another Hadley - Siviter marriage.
Still looking at the Hadley's (as many people are it seems!) Funny that the Homer's and Tonks's also link. I have quite a bit of info on both of those families (on and offline) Let me know what you need. Sarah Jane Tonks (b. abt 1858) was married to Thomas Jones (b. abt 1858) He was also known as &q...
