Hi All,
I have an ancestor sentenced by Court Martial in 1917 for using threatening language to his superior officer whilst active in the field, to 1 year I H L, or maybe T H L. Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks Adrian that's what I was after.
It's interesting that quite current birth records are freely available, but not service records.
I'm not a next of kin for these chaps - it's to do with family history research. Not to worry!
