Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos
Does anybody know whether there is still a RAOB lodge in Swan Village, West Bromwich? My great grandfather, Harvey Jinks, was a member of the Swan Lodge, he was initiated into the lodge in October 1922 (I have the original certificate). He was originally an iron moulder, but in 1921 he was unemploye...

Re: 1921 Census
I have used 1921 Census and it is easy to use but found Transcriptions are not good and needed to spend money on originals to check obvious errors . I found same with 1939 Register and reported errors which were quite easy to check against 1911 Census and Electoral Registers in 1930,s I found my gr...

Re: Help needed to identify badge.
The badge is now identified! It's from the County Technical College in Wednesbury (possibly ca 1950's), where we know my Grandfather trained as a metallurgist. He was almost certainly there prior to 1950s as he started work at what became GKN when he left school. He was a qualified metallurgist runn...

It's on the image, just under his name.
It doesn't make sense any other way - one of the other children in the record is the 2nd child of the father, but the 4th of the mother. George is the 24th child in the record book for that year.

Re: My heritage lookup - John Ireland, Sweden
I need to brush up on my search skills! Thanks for your help. The Swedish is not too difficult but there are some terms that I don't understand - maybe they're a bit too archaic for my modern Danish! The image has George as their 7th child (which means I'm missing a child), with John and Mary/ Maria...

Re: My heritage lookup - John Ireland, Sweden
That's what I was looking for! Thanks! And how much has family search changed since i was there last! This has thrown up a potential issue though - the youngest son, George Maynard Ireland was born in 1873, the British census records all have Sweden as place of birth, the transcript of the Swedish r...

My heritage lookup - John Ireland, Sweden
Does anyone have access to My Heritage? They have a record that seems to relate to John Ireland b. abt 1836, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. He married Mary Augusta Greiner (b. Germany). John worked as a strip caster and probably worked at the foundry in Skultuna (it's from the 1600's and still exists)...

Re: Lockdown Revisited
Same thing here Rob. My father-in-law's funeral is next week, but as of midnight tonight only 50 are allowed to gather together, and that seems to mean 42 in this case (not sure how they arrive at that number but it must include the priest and a few music folk). Of course the restaurants and bars a...

Just wondering if those restrictions apply to all trees? I have my own tribal pages tree and have similar info to BCC, so I'm assuming it's the same rules for everyone?
