*Archive?* BRICK WALL marriage Dorset/Wiltshire 1630's

BRICK WALL for marriage in Dorset or Wiltshire circa 1630 -37 I have hit a brick wall in finding the maiden name of my many times great grandmother. I am her 8th generation grandson. Her name was Elizabeth and she married Edward Buckler (one time Chaplain to Oliver Cromwell) who was born in 1610 at ...

Southampton passenger arrivals 1873 please

Does anyone have access to incoming passenger arrivals at Southampton for 1873 and can help me with the name of STUPAKOFF please? They would have been coming from Germany, probably Hamburg.

I am keeping my fingers crossed in anticipation.

Re: Ask Doug!-- our Garden expert in the Snug!

Ok Daffodils.....they are now spent....can we cut them all down, or do we have to tie em with elastic bands what is the procedure? I was always brought up to "dead head" them i.e. remove the dying flower before the seed head develops too much but leave the rest to die down, so the energy ...

Vegetables in Shady Gardens According to the seed packets I am the only person with a shady garden or does someone else have the same problems? Now I have a lovely sunny patch with nasty acid soil Here the farmers reclaim acid land by dressing it with crushed sea shells ( scallops ). In England lim...

Re: Help trace London immigrant GGmother in 1800's

Thanks to the good members of this forum , I have already received a copy of the marriage certificate of my Great Grandparents dated 1873, from the Southampton Registrar. Very sparse details but a couple of items that will be a great help in making further enquiries in Germany where I am lucky to h...

Re: Ask Doug!-- our Garden expert in the Snug!

I am a long way from being green fingered and my veg garden is a disgrace compared with those orderly and verdant allotments you see. I don't believe in spending much money on growing veg. I usually get seeds as pressies for Christmas and birthdays. I don't like to use chemicals and my liquid fertil...

Re: Toilet seats....

I always worry about the rice that is mixed with wild black rice or is it mixed with mouse droppings ?? :o

On the other hand we have a record number of old age pensioners so maybe the "mixed diet" and contaminated toothbushes have a beneficial effect ?

Re: Toilet seats....

Lads, do not be too polite and put the lid down as well as the seat, like I did once. Remember that ladies do not need to turn the light on to have a pee in the middle of the night like lads do ! I had to get the mop out ! !

Re: There is a Beegees song driving me nuts

I live in the beautiful Isle of Man where the Bee Gees come from and this is my favourite track by Robin Gibb, his version of our anthem. Not many will have heard this I guess . . .

Vegetables in Shady Gardens You know how it is.You get a packet of seeds and they say sow in a sunny well drained spot on a day when the soil is warm. My garden is heavily shaded by trees especially in the summer. I cannot prune/pollard the trees because they are too high and to get them done, I ha...
