Re: Joseph Charles HOULDSWORTH ?1812?-? and wife
Hi, I would like to bump this up to see if there is any luck finding an 1841 census with Thirza Alice Houldsworth as a young child. Her father is Joseph Charles Houldsworth (a tailor) I have no idea how to find the name of her mother/his wife. I am hoping an 1841 census will help. According to futur...

Re: Grahams of Eaglesfield and earlier..
For an update- I have concluded that the George Graham (of Brigham) and Margaret Graham that were married on Feb 9th, 1800 in Cross Canonby are the couple I am looking for. I have found with help that Margaret or Peggy Graham was born to John Graham and Mary Troughton in Harrington on April 2nd, 177...

Canadian William Graham WW1
I have long been told that my g/uncle William GRAHAM (born Sept 2nd, 1901 Ontario Canada to Thomas and Alice Jane Graham from England and Scotland emigrated to Canada in 1895) joined the U.S. army and went to Russia. Since I started tracing my family tree I have been stuck on this brick wall as he w...

Re: Lockerbie, Hoddam, Canonbie Dumfries Parish records
So, I have been able to trace back to 1758 where William GRAHAM of Knottyholme (Nittyholme, Knittyholme) and Agnes ARMSTRONG. I do not know where to look for their marriage to see who their parents are. The children were baptized in Canonbie FHL #1067956. Their children were said to be of Thornethwa...

Re: Lockerbie, Hoddam, Canonbie Dumfries Parish records
Yes, I recognize some of the names. My ancestor is William. I have yet to find where Mary nee Bell was born or baptized so the information there in 1851 is helpful. I can assume that Francis the husband of Mary is dead, I believe he was born about 1780. Williams' daughter I was able to find in the 1...

Re: LDS Member Submissions
No, I am aware of others, including myself who go to LDS centers due to their volunteers and are open to non members of their church. It is mentioned to me by them that when you find something and at the bottom of the page on the familysearch that the information is contributed either by a member of...

Re: Grahams of Eaglesfield and earlier..
That could be.
I thought the 1841 census would be the closest albeit, that there is more than one Eleanor Rogan.
By 1851 census Eleanor would easily have left home as a single person.
Do the irish name their children after their parents as did the english and scots?

Re: Grahams of Eaglesfield and earlier..
Yes, she flip flopped every census from 1861-1881. What throws me off as well is when I locate an Eleanor Rogan in Whitehaven On the 1851 census Whitehaven St. Nicholas Gibsons' court house #82 page 385: Charles Rogan (not Daniel as per marriage certificate of Thomas and Eleanor) Head 45 Blacksmith ...

Re: Grahams of Eaglesfield and earlier..
Thanks for the interest again! Yes, with a last name of Graham, I do wonder who this William is, I wish they were more precise back then. It seems rather sterile, cold, and uninviting to just say 'boarder'. 1871 census is Allerby and Oughterside page six in the village of Allerby. house #23 Thomas G...

Re: Grahams of Eaglesfield and earlier..
Hi Thanks for the interest already. The witnesses to the marriage on Thomas and Eleanor nee Rogan are James Thompson and Mary Ann Brisco. The marriage certificate says they were married in the Register office John (R---iey[looks like three 'u's]) Taylor. Yes, this is the last person I am absolutely ...

Lockerbie, Hoddam, Canonbie Dumfries Parish records
Hello All, I am tracing the family of Francis Graham and Mary Bell who married in the 1820s' and lived in the Hoddam area. On the internet I have been able to find (conversations) on the 1860 Scotland census with Francis being born @1780. It seems I forgot to mark down who Mary Bells' parents are, w...
