Many thanks for that, I will certainly check out those web sites William was indeed still a soldier in the 1881 census living in Ambrose St York. His youngest son Francis (my grandfather) was born 13 Oct 1881 and on hi birth certificate his father William is registered as Sergeant 4th West Yorkshire...

Hello all. I am interested to learn more about Paradise an area in Dudley. Many of my Grainger ancesters lived there in the early 1800's, most, especially the males were coal miners.
