I will check with the registers office, thanks for that info. Sarah Staniland appeared on a census around the same area, maybe a friend witness I presumed or maybe you are thinking that there is a possible connection? A little bit more digging around to do I think??!! Thanks for your advice.

Can anyone offer me any clues as to why Alice Pepper (Nee Cook) made this alteration (see certificate)?
