I agree ...
1. I need to get a couple of certificates starting with Clara Jane's birth and possibly then the marriage cert that has been poted here
and then
2. It is probably time to archive.

Re: *Arc tbc* -Margaret WHO?
I've not made any positive links with the possible Kidderminster marriage but I have turned up some new information - it's a bit convoluted so please stay with me. In the 1881 census Henry Heynes and Clara Jane Heynes (nee Adie) have a visitor who is nominated as a cousin. Her name is Fanny Adie and...

*Arc tbc* -Margaret WHO?
Francis Adie (b. abt 1825 in Colton, Staffordshire) married Margaret (b. abt 1828 in Rugde, Shropshire) somewhere around 1858 if the birth of their daughter Clara Jane is anything to go by. Clara was born in Bilston in 1859: I have found an IGI entry for Clara's birth but interestingly, or is it con...

Re: My ancestors to be added to Connections - Alan
I'm sorry guys, I wasn't expecting this flurry of activity. I was asked for four names to enter as a worked example so to make the example a bit broader I entered Mary's surname as "unknown" ... it is indeed Phipps as you have correctly identified. I naively thought that the data that I ha...

Re: Coal Mines in Darlaston
Darlaston Mines.jpg Just for info: the red circle is King's Hill, the green circle is the place where the block of flats collapsed - so much for searches! However, there is only one dot at King's Hill and all of the info highlighted in this thread suggests that there should be more. I've known of t...

Re: Coal Mines in Darlaston
Maths girl, I have just re-read your previous post: So two possible mines in 1880: 221 King's. Hill, Wednesbury, Bayley and Hunt. 222 King's. Hill, Wednesbury, Joseph Springthorpe. and two possibles in 1896 Wednesbury, Old Park owned by Jas. and Jno. Hunt, King's Hill, Situation ............... Wedn...

Re: Coal Mines in Darlaston
Maths girl, Read opening lines of the original post in this thread again ... I'm not sure that the detailed maps exist. From what I have been told by older members of the family there were holes in the ground all over the place. When I was a lad I always thought that the nearest mine was in Cannock ...

Re: Coal Mines in Darlaston
Even I get confused and I was born and reared in the place. King's Hill is in the no-man's land between Darlaston and Wednesbury. Technically it's in Wednesbury but King's Hill School became part of Darlaston Community School for example. I know that there are some Darlaston mining records in Walsal...

Re: Coal Mines in Darlaston
As Dowen id the last name on the owners list maybe he was a junior partner and if you follow up on the other names you might come at the mine from another direction I thought of that one but I can't see the other two either. There is also a link by marriage between Dowen and Cotterell (which I have...

Re: Coal Mines in Darlaston
Thanks for your input - I must follow up both of those Samuel Dowens on the accident list to see whether there is a direct connection and the idea of contacting the Black Country Museum is also a good one - it's been years since I last visited the place. I've had a trawl through m and found a number...

*ARC TBC* - - Coal Mines in Darlaston
I suppose that it all started with a chance remark. Back in the early/mid 1960s three blocks of low rise flats were being built in Wolverhampton St quite near to Catherine's Cross in Darlaston: building was progessing well and all three blocks were upto the first floor when one night, the middle blo...

Re: *Arc pend more info* -Dowen/Sivorn
I think that I probably have got sufficient for now ... I must spend more time trawling the IGI pending a visit to Stafford because I am pretty sure that the St Lawrence registers are there. Thanks to both of you for your input.

Re: Dowen/Sivorn
I look up a lot of records and the name changes depending who is entering it most of the people couldnt write their name so the name changed to probably what the vicar heard and with an accent that could change on a bapt and marriage etc etc So expect lots of variations I'm used to that both in his...
