Re: Sigh - So many Dawes!

Hi Jo yes i,ve seen that John and the date does agree. A Jno is actually shown on the 1851 census with Isaac as the head and both Charles and Jno showing as sons. My problem is ten years later in the 1861 census, they are both still there but this time they are listed as Grandsons which means that I...

Re: Richard Dawes b Est 1852 Tewin Herts

Hi all, Well the certificates arrived and it looks as though suspicions have been confirmed, well done Gardener! The birth certificate for William Richard Dawes shows Eliza Dawes as the mother with no maiden name and there is no mention of the father on the document. His marriage certificate to Emm...

*TBC* Archive? Scottish Data

Can anyone tell how I can access Scottish data on Ancestry.co.uk.

I am trying to access data on the death of a brother, does Ancestry do Scottish data?

Regards

Peter

Re: Where is Max?

Re: Richard Dawes b Est 1852 Tewin Herts

Hi It could well be that he is the William R Dawes that you found on BMD index in 1852. A few of my ancestors have used their middle names on marriage certs / census info. You may have to send for birth/marriage and death certs to be sure. There is a death listed for a William R Dawes in March 1/4 ...

Re: Where is Max?

Thanks for the lead gardener.

I have contacted them and they are checking. Alas the records that they have on hand only go back to 1958 so it might take a while to find and check any earlier ones.

Re: Where is Max?

Just to let you know that i am still continuing my search. I tried Worthing Records office who checked their records for me who found nothing but gave me some other sources to try including cremotoriums. I also had no luck there until i spoke to the Parks Department who still manage a number of ceme...

Re: Embarrassing moments

I slept walked once: 1. I was naked 2. I did it in the street outside our holiday digs. 3. I locked myself out of the digs. 4. Whilst still asleep I rang the doorbell and asked the landlord, who answered it, if I could come back in. 5. I was 11 years old at the time. I didn't remembera thing about i...

Was There a 1911 Pandemic? Completed

Hi everyone, In researching my mum's side of the family I cam across a GRO death index for her elder brother who was registered at dying at the age 0 (zero) in 1911. When I looked at the page generally I was horrified to see that 25 to 30% of the deaths were registered at age 0. A lot of them were a...
