Coley-Smith Family of Hasbury
The four people in the middle of this photo are connected to the Coley-Smith family, who lived at High Farm Hasbury. Experts at the Black Country Bugle reckon that High Farm was never known by that name locally,(although Richards burial record says High Farm) they say it was called Old Barn Farm.
Very confusing as the last two generations have siblings with different surnames, Coley-Smith, Coley, Smith and Smith-Coley. Pre 1837 the family name is Smith.
The lady with the scarf round her neck is ..........
Sarah Coley-Smith 1837 - 1917, next to her is Richard Coley-Smith 1837 - 1909, next to him, Leah Ingram nee Crumpton, (Sarah's sister), next to her John Ingram, Leah's husband.

The Picture was taken at Hasbury Methodist Chapel, between the School Yard and the Chapel. The Coley Smiths lived nearby at Hasbury Farm. Information from Norman Jones, re-the Bugle. Linell.

So, it has nothing to do with Halesowen Post Office as Dumblonde believed Linell?

Yes that's correct San, the picture was actually taken up at Hasbury Primitive Chapel, presume they were using the Sunday School as a make shift Post Office? Lin.

Ah! So the info from Dumblonde regarding the 1st Pension Day could have some truth in it, do you think?

Yes first pensions were 1909, started by the Liberal Chancellor of the Exchequer David Llyod George.
